Summer 1984 – Walking Up the Mountain

March 23, 2020 Articles and Columns by George Vukelich

Prime Times was a magazine aimed at an older audience. This is a reflective essay about getting older and has some interesting paragraphs about his father, who he called The Old Man.  George used to say that he tried to put into words what he thinks his father would have written about the North Country… had his father been able to do so. The Old Man never did communicate very well using words. But he clearly was able to communicate what he felt about his beloved northern Wisconsin lakes to George, and George spent his career putting those feelings into words.
