Spendin’ Time in Nashville

April 3, 2018 Poems
Here is a country song that George wrote and sang into a little micro tape recorder. This has not appeared anywhere other than a sheet of paper given to his son.
Spendin’ Time in Nashville
By George Vukelich, 1990
Been spendin’ time in Nashville
Looking for some fun
I know there’s fun in Nashville
But I ain’t found me none
I’m feeling snake bit
And I can’t take it
Anymore
Took myself to Nashville
To see if I could play
Sat in with some pickers
And they blew me away
I’m feeling snake bit
And I can’t take it
Anymore
Spent some time in Nashville
Looking for a girl
The only girl that smiled back
Was dear old Minnie Pearl
I’m feeling snake bit
And I can’t take it
Anymore
I’m saying goodbye to Nashville
‘Cause I ain’t ready yet
They said “you come back to Nashville
When you can play like Chet”
I’m feeling snake bit
And I can’t take it
Anymore
I’m coming back to Nashville
When I learn how to play
And when you can play in Nashville
That will be the day
When you’re not snake bit
And you can take it
Anywhere
