Listening In 1-20-84: Jerry Minnich – ‘I’m Also A Marketing Manager’

April 6, 2020 Interviews by George Vukelich

Jerry Minnich was a dear friend of George’s, and George loved his writing. Jerry also was very helpful to George with some of the nuts and bolts of trying to run a press out of his house. When George had the first volume of North Country Notebook published, a truck with a semi-trailer showed up at George and Helen’s house on Plymouth Circle. The driver gets out and looks around, a bit confused, and says: “I’m looking for North Country Press.”

George smiled – “Right here!”

Eventually George paid Jerry for a small (very small) part of his warehouse space, and had a couple of pallets in the corner with the inventory of North Country Press. When George died in 1995, Jerry was incredibly helpful to Helen, and then George’s son with storage of the catalog.

You can read some other stories related to Jerry, including a review of Jerry’s A Wisconsin Garden Guide from 1975, a mention in a North Country Notebook column, and an interview with his wife Kristin Visser.
